We have 2 tours, so you have a choice of Tour A, which is scenic, while Tour B has a wide variety of interesting and historic sites. Our rates for 2002 are 380.00 ( per person sharing) Bed and Irish Breakfast , 7 day accommodation , single supplement extra. Daily coach service to and from Dublin (10.00 return fare) Group tours (10 people +) 500.00 Bed an Irish Breakfast 7 day accommodation, per person sharing Single supplement extra, with a daily transfer of luggage. Cycling Holidays Tour A Scenic RouteArrival:
Day 1: PORTUMNA to GORT (38 kms) Leaving Portumna, we head west through quiet countryside, woods, bogs and small friendly villages. Gort home of famous Irish literacy figures Day 2: GORT to FEAKLE (27 kms)Today we travel to Feakle, famous for traditional Irish music and dancing. Passing Lough Cultra and magical Lough Greaney with Maghera mountains nearby Day 3: FEAKLE to KILLALOE (29 kms)We cycle today over gentle slopes and get our first view of scenic Lough Derg and ancient Killaloe. There, one can avail of water based activities Day 4: KILLALOE to NENAGH to DROMINEER (32 kms)Our tour today covers some of Ireland's most spectacular scenery with panoramic views of Lough Derg, 250 sq kms of open water and unsurpassed views of mountains and lakes, a photographers paradise. Nenagh, the county town of Tipperary - a hive of activity. Day 5: DROMINEER to PORTUMNA (36 kms)We journey by Irish countryside of North Tipperary through pleasant Shannonside villages. Day 6: REST DAYYou can enjoy a stroll in Portumna Forest Park or avail of all the local amenities of Portumna Boating, Equestrian, Fishing, Golf, Pitch and Putt - We can arrange hire of these activities - optional extra day in Gort to enjoy the Burren instead of a rest day if preferred Day 7: RETURN
Cycling Holidays Tour B Attractions RouteDay 1: PORTUMNA to LOUGHREA (25 kms) We head west through the village of Tynagh, ancestral home of Australian Prime minister Paul Keating. Visit Loughrea Cathedral fine example of ecclesiastical art Day 2: LOUGHREA to BALLINASLOE (28 kms) Today's route takes us through the village of Aughrim, scene of the famous Battle in 1691. Visit Aughrim Interpretative Centre Day 3: BALLINASLOE to CLONMACNOISE to BANAGHER (29 kms) We travel to Clonmacnoise and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Ireland's ancient Monastic city, founded in the 6th century. Our next port of call is a most unusual safari, a guided tour on a Luxury Railway Carriage, through 12,000 year old cut away bog. Day 4: BANAGHER to BIRR (29 kms) Before we leave Banagher we should enjoy a short boat trip on the River Shannon. Birr a pleasant Georgian town, visit Birr Castle grounds, over 1,000 different species of trees and shrubs. View remains of giant telescope of 1845. Today we have a choice of routes Day 5: Choice of Routes BIRR to KINNITY to ROSCREA (31 kms) or LONGER SCENIC SLIEVE BLOOM MOUNTAINS to ROSCREA (54 kms) Day 6: ROSCREA to PORTUMNA (40 kms) Enjoy the friendly atmosphere of Mount St Josephs Cistercian Monastery before returning to Portumna via monastic historic Lorrha Tour B RatesGroup Tours 400.00 Single supplement 56.00 per person per week.
