Into the West - Horse Drawn Caravan HolidaysThe Routes and TrailsOn arrival each tourist will be given a travel pack consisting of a route map and description of the area, places of interest, timetable, and roads etc. It will also include a list of overnight stops, friendly, farmers, restaurants, good fishing waters and ceili pubs. 60 miles (88kms is the norm to travel each week. Some mountain roads are steep for horses and caravans which is why we plan your route with you before you start off. Each evening your horse must graze in a securely fenced field provided by a farmer or campsite. Fresh farm produce, milk and eggs may be available for sale. A fee to cover cost of grass and water is payable to the farmer. We provide enough supplementary horse fodder for the duration of your holiday. Stopping OvernightHorse drawn caravans have no driving lights so they must be parked off the road during the hours of darkness. Designated farmers, guest houses, pubs and hotels make overnight facilities available to horse drawn caravans for a fee. At a minimum, they provide parking for the caravan, grass for the horse, rubbish disposal and sanitary facilities. However some often provide far more, including packed lunches, cooked meats, farm produce, child minding services, hot showers and sometimes transport to local visitor attractions. Your holiday host will provide all the assistance and advice you need.
