The object of the game is to propel discs by means of a cue onto scoring diagram at the appropriate end of the court - to score, to prevent opponent from scoring, or both. Shuffleboard as it is played today evolved out of several games that go back into history 400 years or more. Back in 15th Century England, shuffleboard was a popular game called 'shove- groat' or 'shove-penny' and was very popular with the aristocracy.
