Amboseli National Park in Kenya

Amboseli National Park is one of the most popular parks in Kenya with stunning views over Mount Kilimanjaro (5894m) -The highest mountain in Africa (in Tanzania). The Word Amboseli is a Maasai word meaning salty dust. The park is situated around an observation hill, please visit day trip from nairobi to amboseli, whi gives a great view over the ains below. The Maasai community lives around the park and in addition to their livestock, the park is home to more than 50 species of mammals and 400 bird species. We have many different safari options.

The Kilimjaro

The mountain is located on the border of Kenya and Tanzania, it is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. If you an to climb Kilimanjaro mountain, it can only be done from Tanzania. For the majority who want to have the excellent view of the mountain during game drives next to the wild animals or from your restaurant during breakfast, you are advised to visit Amboseli park.

Amboseli is where Cyntia Moss conducts her Elephant Resear Project. The park can be very dusty and dry. There aren't many trees to be found, but the open ains make spotting wildlife easy.

Even though the landscape is dry, the earth has a beautiful red color.

The Observation Hill

The observation hill is close to the swamps in the park and is a perfect picnic spot, listening to the sound of the hippos in the grass below. At the observation hill you may walk outside the car to climb the hill.

The Maasai Villages

Authentic Maasai villages border the park. Masai are a tribe found in both Kenya and Tanzania that are known to preserve their culture and coexist with wildlife. During your safari, you can oose to meet with your driver guide to visit a Maasai village so you can learn more about it.

HOW TO GET TO AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK?

  1. By car : Guests can access the park from Nairobi or Mombasa. From Nairobi it takes about 4 hours. From Mombasa we strongly recommend combining with Tsavo west where Amboseli can be accessed through Tsavo West National Park through Kimana (Olkelunyiet) Gate. The drive from Mombasa directly to Amboseli takes about 9 hours, making it a very long and tiring drive. For the road safari from Mombasa we recommend 3 nights pole pole kilimanjaro safari whi can also start from Nairobi.
  2. Daily seduled flights : We have daily flights from Wilson Airport to Amboseli National Park. Nairobi to Amboseli National Park takes about 45 minutes by flight. Guests of our Kenyan bea hotels can also oose to fly approximately 1 hour 30 minutes from Diani Bea or Mombasa to Amboseli National Park. These flights will take you directly to the park
  3. By train : you can oose to visit Amboseli by train. Kenya has a new train that can take you from Mombasa or Nairobi to Emali. From Emali we will pick you up in our 4×4 for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive to Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli National park attractions
